Enough Is Enough: Jubilee Party Rallies Kenyans to Reject Finance Bill 2026
The Jubilee Party has rallied Kenyans to reject the Finance Bill 2026, warning that the proposed law contains punitive clauses that will worsen the cost of living and push the country into a deeper crisis.
Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i, Secretary General Richard Kenta, and Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni spoke out during a press briefing on Wednesday at the party’s headquarters at Daraja House on State House Road. They warned that the bill would hit ordinary Kenyans hardest if Parliament passes it into law.
Matiang’i stated that the country is currently walking down a crisis and called on the Executive to directly address the challenges facing Kenyans instead of issuing what he views as endless excuses.
“We are walking down a crisis,” Matiang’i said. He further warned against politicizing national security and framing economic challenges along ethnic lines.
Jeremiah Kioni noted that the protests witnessed over the past two days carry a clear message from Kenyans that they have had enough, insisting that citizens took to the streets spontaneously rather than through political mobilization.
“What we saw in the last two days is a statement of Kenyans saying enough is enough… There was no single political statement ahead of the demos,” Kioni said.
The party also cautioned the Kenya Kwanza administration against ethnic profiling of the recent fuel protests, arguing that the soaring cost of living affects all Kenyans regardless of their community.
Jubilee further warned the government against blaming retired President Uhuru Kenyatta for the country’s challenges, advising leaders to focus on solutions instead.
Kioni accused the government of shifting blame to Uhuru rather than responding to the issues the public has raised, and he repeated the party’s call for Kenyans to reject the Finance Bill 2026.
“They have a Finance Bill that Kenyans must reject,” he said.
Matiang’i stated that Jubilee will hold public engagements on the proposed law as the party rallies public opposition against the bill. Jubilee also demanded that the government disclose what it claims is a secret road levy securitization deal, calling for full transparency on the agreement and its long-term financial implications.
